U.S. revives Monroe Doctrine and seeks hegemony over Latin America
The U.S. State Department published on Tuesday (11) an institutional video that resurrects the Monroe Doctrine and states that U.S. dominance in the Western Hemisphere "will never again be questioned." The piece is narrated by U.S. Ambassador to Panama, Kevin Marino Cabrera.
The material presents the operation to capture Nicolás Maduro in January 2026 as a demonstration of force and a message to Latin American governments, making explicit the regional intervention policy of the Donald Trump administration.
The propaganda updates the so-called "Monroe Doctrine," reaffirming Washington's claim to treat Latin America as its sphere of influence and, in practice, subordinating the sovereignty and self-determination of the region's countries to U.S. geopolitical interests.
